Written by a non-native English speaker, this third edition of the book substantially revises the previous versions, incorporating much more new and updated information.
As a novelty, a chapter on bad practices has been added, covering the activities of editors, reviewers and authors.
The book is addressed especially to young researchers, debutants, devoted to economic research (e.g. master students, PhD students, post-doc students and young researchers) and also anyone in the academic environment and not only.
The volume is not exclusively a scientific one, being more appropriate to a friendly short 'story' about how to write and publish a scientific economic paper.
This manuscript’s idea originates from my international publishing experience with several recognized publishers (e.g. Emerald, Elsevier, Sage, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Wiley). Unfortunately, the rigor of such publishers cannot be experienced through research training during the academic period.
Thus, many ideas and reflections in this book are based on my publishing experience, being the vector of dozens of received feedbacks from abroad colleagues. Starting with 2011, I gained a good experience in publishing as editor-in-chief of the scientific international 'Economic Research Guardian' journal.
The content of the proposed book is based on a legitimate question I have asked myself looking back in time: how to write and publish a good scientific economic paper? I thought that the right answer must be sequential, starting with the identification of the topic until the final stage of the publishing paper.
Without discouraging anyone, publishing in a top international journal can take between 2 and 3 years on average (1 year in the best case!). In the undesirable situation of rejection, to preserve the results of research, the quality standard of the targeted journals should be gradually diminished.
I have given a special place to AI in research, recognizing that this emerging reality will shape the future of scientific inquiry.
Finally, I hope the lecture will not bore you. I can assure you that my stories presented in the second-person singular about how to write and publish a scientific economic paper will be very useful in your scientific career.
